Trending Spring Fashions with Yvonne Midkiff

Spring is about the time we start recovering from all the holiday expenses and look forward to revamping our wardrobes, especially when those tax returns start to roll in. First things first, let’s do ourselves a favor and do a quick sweep of the closet! We need to make room for the new 2014 spring trends. Hurry up and donate these pieces because they are on-the-outs. Trust me.

Keep on Cropping.

These abbreviated shirts are sticking around this year. For most of us, plan on renewing your gym membership. May I suggest investing in high-waisted pieces as an easier way to wear crop tops without showing too much tummy. Keep in mind, you can also wear crop tops as layering piece.

Pleats, pretty please!

Pleated skirts have been around for a while but are getting an updated and high fashion treatment this Spring. Stick with delicate pleat for a breezy and feminine vibe! Pair it with a crop sweater and knee-high boot or swap in an airy white blouse and wrap-around sandals.

Sheer Genius

Showing skin is quite the trend these days. Right?! Sheer paneling allows you to decide how much skin you want to bare and where, which is pretty awesome. Perfect for all you reluctant exhibitionists out there! Either in iridescent form or lace, sheer inserts, skirts, and sleeve pieces are floaty, light and ideal for Spring.

Mixed Bouquet

It just wouldn’t be spring without blooms and floral has always been the embodiment of spring fashion! 2014 is definitely not the average Garden Party. Floral prints this season are modern, complex, and have plenty of attitude! They span between two extremes, ranging from delicate and painterly to bold and graphic.
